All Your AssaultBike Questions Answered

All Your AssaultBike Questions Answered

Tom Young

We’re dropping the world’s first interactive AssaultBike workouts. And it definitely got you talking.

All your comments and feedback have been great. So we thought we’d answer the most popular questions here.

HOW DO I USE AN AIR BIKE?

The AssaultBike is incredibly easy to use. In fact, there’s almost no barrier to entry.

You just sit down, pedal with your legs and push and pull with your arms. In fact, you could definitely argue that it’s simpler than an elliptical – at least you get to sit down!

Unlike a spin bike, you don’t need to clip in and out with fancy shoes. You don’t need to master techniques like a rower, ski erg or a treadmill. And it’s easy to transition to the mat and back – meaning you’ll get a well-rounded workout, without creating any nasty imbalances from spending too much time doing one thing.

WHY SHOULD I BUY AN AIR BIKE?

In short, it’s the world’s most efficient and effective piece of fitness equipment. It uses almost every muscle in the body. And – unlike a spin bike, rower or treadmill – you will always improve. Because the harder you work the harder the air bike makes you work — so there’s no limit to how far you can go.

If you’re looking to improve your strength and power, torch calories, build your cardiovascular fitness and redefine what your body is capable of – there is no better machine.

If it’s good enough for every elite sporting institution under the sun, then it’s good enough for you.

The AssaultBike is also a great tool for rehabilitation or for beginners, as it’s low impact and kind on your knees, back and ankles – especially compared to running and rowing.

Register your interest here to be first to hear about our AssaultBike packages.

IS FIIT STILL DOING CARDIO, STRENGTH AND REBALANCE CLASSES?

HELL YES WE ARE!!

Don’t worry. Your mat workouts aren’t going anywhere!

We’ll still be dropping new classes each and every week. Mat workouts will complement your AssaultBike workouts and vice versa.

CAN I USE THE ASSAULTBIKE OUTSIDE OF FIIT WORKOUTS

Yep! The AssaultBike isn’t just efficient and effective. It’s versatile.

Need to get warmed up for a run? Do 5 mins on the AssaultBike. Want an upper body focused cardio workout? Chuck your feet on the pedals and just use your arms.

Also, the AssaultBike has different features – including interval workouts, heart rate zone monitoring, distance targets, time, and calories – and your options within those modes are limitless. So you can throw yourself into our trainer-led programmed workouts as well as create your own.

WHAT NEW WORKOUTS WILL THERE BE?

If you love any of our existing classes, then you’ll love our AssaultBike workouts. Our sports scientists, engineers and data scientists have taken all your favourite bits and worked tirelessly to create three distinctly new workout concepts – Sprint, Metcon and Endure.

And, just like our existing classes, they’re programmed to get the best out of our body’s three main energy systems.

Sprint is anaerobic alactic training. If you’re a fan of Strength (think Push Pull or Circuits) then you’ll love these. It’s short bursts of all-out energy – tapping into your creatine-phosphate and adenosine triphosphate (ATP-CP) – to build explosive strength and power.

Metcon is anaerobic lactic training. If you love a Dumbbell or Kettlebell Shred, you’ll fall in lust with Metcon. This uses the glycolytic energy pathway, creating plenty of metabolic fatigue (the burn). These workouts are tough. They hurt. And they incinerate calories.

Endure is all about aerobic training. It uses oxygen as fuel. It builds stamina, keeps you moving and if you’re particularly fond of Nonstop (and Boss Level) then this is totally your jam.

We are also launching recovery workouts – including more specified active recovery, stretching, mobility and activations. PLUS, a whole new Compete function – allowing you to see how you stack up against the community and enjoy some friendly competition.

WILL I GET BORED OF IT?

If you’re wondering if you’ll get bored of the AssaultBike, then you need to ask yourself if you’re bored with Fiit?

There’s no machine in the world that offers the variety and cross-functionality that the air bike does. And there’s nothing on the planet that allows you to continually improve like the air bike does.

It isn’t all about going as hard as you can. In fact, going beast mode only scratches the surface of what the AssaultBike can do for you.

It’s brilliant for Low-Intensity Steady State cardio, or LISS for short. Because it recruits so many muscles at once, you’ll get more for your time at a lower intensity than on any other machine.

Plus – and this is a big plus – you’ll never beat the AssaultBike. It doesn’t have a maximum elevation setting like a treadmill, and it certainly doesn’t have a limit to the amount of resistance like a spin bike. The harder you push, the harder it pushes back. Which means you can level up and keep levelling up with the same piece of equipment.

A wise person once said, If you’re tired of the AssaultBike, you’re tired of life. We definitely made that up. But you get the idea.

AM I FIT ENOUGH TO USE AN ASSAULTBIKE?

Yes. If you can do a Fiit class at any level – from advanced HIIT to beginner strength to an intermediate Yoga flow – then you’re ready for the AssaultBike.
