Yes, Team! Corinne Naomi here – Programme Manager and Fiit Trainer.
We’re launching the world’s first interactive AssaultBike workouts and new collections – Train, Recover and Compete.
These workouts are specifically designed for performance. They’ll take you outside your comfort zone. They’ll push you harder. And they’ll take you further. But, for you to get the best out of them – you’ll need to Recover.
Let me explain why.
TRAIN HARD. RECOVER HARDER.
Over the past 6 months, I’ve done a lot of research into how top athletes – particularly those in functional fitness – remain consistent with their training and optimize performance.
And, more specifically, I’ve been looking at how they Recover.
We often place the biggest emphasis on our main training sessions. And that makes sense! If you’re a runner, and you want to improve your running then you need to run.
But – and this is a big but – your body needs something completely different if you want it to adapt to the next level.
One thing that’s universal for all athletes is what they do to prime and prep pre-workout and what they do to restore and reset post-workout. It helps them perform at their peak for longer. And these Recover workouts are no different.
RECOVER VS. REBALANCE.
Firstly, the Rebalance Studio isn’t going anywhere. You’ll still get full access to all our existing classes – and we’ve got plenty more coming (Yoga training plan anyone?).
But, the difference between the two is that Rebalance falls under both Train and Recover.
The move towards Train, Recover and Compete allows us to be more specialized – particularly around our AssaultBike workouts. Recover helps you focus on progression. And it makes sure that we’re all working towards improved performance.
So, whether it’s You vs. You, you’re thrashing it out on the AssaultBike or you’re challenging yourself against the rest of the Fiit community – Recover will give your body what it needs to find that next level.
MORE OF WHAT YOU LOVE. MORE OF WHAT YOU NEED.
In Recover, you can expect to see workouts from all our Cardio, Strength trainers, and all your Rebalance faves.
We’ll be launching more specific and longer warm-ups and activations – helping you train with more intention and purpose. Plus, we’ll have extended cool-downs and low impact recovery workouts.
You’ll also see some Yin For Athletes, more from our Functional Movement series, body-part focused mobility and stretching routines, as well as AssaultBike-specific recovery workouts.
All of these have been designed with you in mind. And they’ll play a big role in getting you back to training quicker, stronger & better than before.
RECOVER LIKE AN ATHLETE.
Ultimately, to get the maximum benefit from each workout, we’d need to completely recover from the previous one.
That’s why Premier League teams spend millions on sports scientists. CrossFitters sleep for 10-12 hours a night. And NBA stars have their own chefs and nutritionists.
Obviously, for most of us, that’s unrealistic. But it’s also the area that’s most commonly overlooked. It’s one of the most important. And it’s arguably the easiest.
Arguably…
WITH PUSH COMES PULL
No one can reach their full potential without giving their body time to recover.
I don’t care who you are. If all you do is push, your body will eventually say ‘no’. Whether that’s through mental and physical burnout, muscular imbalances, injury, broader health issues – even unwanted weight gain.
But a killer recovery routine will let your body adapt and heal in preparation for the next session – bringing your nervous system into balance, improving physical awareness, and helping you smash those PBs.
IT DOESN’T STOP WITH FIIT
At Fiit, we’re all about movement. That’s why we’re focusing on active recovery. BUT, there’s still so much more you can do.
Getting the best from recovery means focusing on sleep, nutrition, hydration, stress management – in fact – maybe we could write a blog about it?
