Introducing The World’s First Interactive Air Bike Workouts

Introducing The World’s First Interactive Air Bike Workouts

Tom Young

We launched Fiit over 3 years ago. Since then we’ve gone from bodyweight classes to Dumbbell and Kettlebell Shreds and everything in between. And now we’re proud to say we’re levelling up again.

Introducing the world’s first interactive air bike workouts. Exclusive to Fiit.

The air bike is the most efficient and effective functional fitness equipment in the world. It uses almost every muscle in the body. It’s loved by elite athletes and institutions. And we’ve teamed up with the best in business – Assault Fitness – to bring you a fully connected, personalized experience.

Are you as excited as we are? Damn right you are.

We spoke to our Director of Innovation and Performance, Adrienne Herbert, and our US Head of Fitness, Pete Pisani to find out what this is all about.

WHY THE AIR BIKE?

If the data tells us anything about Fiit members, it’s that you’re tough. Our most brutal classes are your highest rated. Boss Level – the world’s hardest home workout – is the most popular. The Push Pull training plan, designed to turn you into an athletic weapon, is a Fiit favourite. And Monday morning – AKA. the toughest day of the week? More people train with Fiit on Monday than any other day.

So, why have we become obsessed with the air bike all of a sudden?

Adrienne: We know the Fiit community love to work hard and train with purpose. Whether their goal is to increase strength, speed or stamina, our classes and trainers push them to progress. Training on the air bike is tough. It’s notoriously challenging, but it delivers results. It’s human powered – there’s no electricity – so how hard you work is up to you! I know our everyday athletes will love this.

Pete: Its nickname is the ‘Devil’s Tricycle’ and it’s like the evil love child of a stationary bike and an elliptical. It uses your whole body. And you spin a giant restrictive fan with pedals and handles. The harder you push the higher the resistance. It never gets easier – but you definitely get better.

TRAIN. RECOVER. COMPETE.

These air bike workouts are a world first. They’re fully interactive with the AssaultBike. So when you connect, you get the data from your air bike and tracker.

Effort on the bike (Bike cals). RPMs. Rep tracking. HR. KCal (your output). We’ve created a new formula and points-based system to level up how you track performance and improvements, and how you compete (but that requires a blog in itself).

We also launch with three distinctly new workout concepts – Metcon, Sprint and Endure. These are programmed to get the best out of our body’s three main energy systems.

Metcon (short for metabolic conditioning) is anaerobic lactic training. If you love a Dumbbell Shred, you’ll fall in lust with Metcon. This uses the glycolytic energy pathway, creating metabolic fatigue (the burn). These workouts are tough. They hurt. And they incinerate calories.

Sprint is anaerobic alactic training. It’s short bursts of all-out energy – tapping into your creatine-phosphate and adenosine triphosphate (ATP-CP) – to build explosive strength and power.

Endure is all about aerobic training. It uses oxygen as fuel. It builds stamina, keeps you moving and if you’re a Nonstop fiend, then this is totally your jam.

Plus (and this is something we’re seriously excited about) you’ll also get supporting recovery workouts. Active recovery. Stretching. Mobility. Activations. We’re specifying recovery for next level performance.

Adrienne: Recovery is essential to optimum performance. What does that mean? Basically, if you’re serious about improving your performance, then you’ve gotta get serious about recovery

THIS IS OUR NEXT LEVEL. AND IT’S YOURS TOO.

Honestly, when we started more than 3 years ago, we never could have envisioned teaming up with Assault Fitness to bring you interactive air bike workouts. But, as we’ve continued on our mission to making fitness a habit for every body, we’ve learnt more and more.

We firmly believe that for us to achieve this mission, functional training is the way.

Walking. Jogging. Running. Sprinting. Jumping. Lifting. Pushing. Pulling. Bending. Twisting. Turning. Sitting. Squatting. Standing. Starting. Stopping. Climbing. Lunging. These are real-life, functional movements.

The air bike is the premier piece of functional fitness equipment that enhances our real-life activities. Making us stronger, fitter and faster. And Assault Fitness are leaders in this space.

Adrienne: Innovation is essential for progress. As a runner, I’m always looking to improve my performance. I believe every athlete has this mindset. They’re always trying to get 1% better. We want to empower our members to train, recover and compete so that they can reach their fitness goals.

It’s not about being the best. It’s about being your best.

PRO ATHLETES. ELITE FITNESS INSTITUTIONS. FIIT MEMBERS.

CrossFit. The Premier League. The NFL, UFC, Olympians, and even Britain’s very own tennis superstar, Emma Raducanu get down and dirty with the devil’s tricycle. And now you can too.

Adrienne: Most people assume that the air bike is just for max effort, hardcore training sessions and they don’t realise that it is also a great piece of equipment for active recovery. It’s low impact so it can be used to warm up before training, or cool down afterwards, and even as part of rehab after an injury.

Pete: If you asked me, ‘Yo, Pistol, if you could only use one piece of exercise equipment for the rest of your life, what would it be?’ Without hesitation, it’s the air bike. And more specifically, the AssaultBike. Nothing compares. It’s easy to use and gets your whole body and respiratory system firing. It’s the ultimate training tool.

Watch any major, minor, and collegiate sporting events and you’ll see an athlete using an air bike to get warm and ready for action. And walk into any half-decent gym or CrossFit box, and the air bike sits pride of place. The air bike has become a staple in the functional fitness community and if you’ve danced with the Devil’s Tricycle in the past, you know why.

WANNA GET INVOLVED?

We’ll be granting early access to just 100 members – giving them the first opportunity to shape the future of Fiit – and get down to these killer new workouts and app features.

Don’t miss out! Hit this link before 31st Oct to join the waiting list and be the first to learn more about our new air bike package.

Early access to air bike workouts starts January 2022.
